The biggest and also most difficult undertaking until now was the construction of an 2-6-2+2-6-2 South African industrial garratt (Clydesdale Colliery / Dundee Coal / Consolidated Main Reef Mines); similar locomotives were used as well in Spain (Rio Tinto Railroad ; Compania Minera de Sierra Menera) and in Brazil (Great Western of Brazil Railroad). I had to compromise to build a model that passes radius R1 and the switches without any problems.
Photos of the original engine are published at Durrant’s "Garratt Locomotives of the World" and on Gavin Hamilton’s homepage at powernet.uk.
